business is thriving in the Scottish Borders...........

MARKETING THE SCOTTISH BORDERS

Promotion of commercial opportunities for Borders companies, and the Regions economy on a global basis, is the central remit of the Council's marketing strategy. Marketing activity is focused on the production, advertising and promotion of buyers guides to Borders products and services

Scottish Borders Council continues to foster strong trade links between the Region's industrial community and other areas of the UK and overseas countries through representation at national and international trade fairs, exhibitions and shows

FINANCE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

The Finance for Small Business Scheme offers loans and grants to support the important contribution which small firms make to the local economy. New ventures, existing businesses, manufacturing or business-to-business service firms moving into the region can all apply for assistance under the scheme

In addition there are two other schemes of financial assistance to businesses. The first, the Exhibition Grant Scheme, helps firms with their marketing efforts by giving grant assistance to attend Trade Exhibitions and Trade Events. The second is to support Single Village Shops selling convenience items in villages with a low population

BUSINESS ACCOMODATION

The Council provides advice and assistance on industrial and commercial premises, particularly for incoming investment or existing company expansion plans and continues to support the local economy through projects like the provision of new factory units, with new units under construction in Peebles and Kelso, and through the management of its existing 250 unit portfolio
